SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Aztec Track and Field team continued post season competition with 10 athletes competing on the first day of NCAA West Regionals on Thursday evening in Sacramento, California.  

Jada Moore, the Mountain West Champion in the 100m dash, ran 11.70 in the event on Thursday evening and finished seventh in her heat and 41st overall.
In the 200m dash, Aisha Watt finished in 24.04, placing 45th overall. Jessica Kain competed in the 1500m, earning a quarterfinals spot after setting a PR of 4:15.87 and earning a finish of fifth in her heat and 15th overall.

In the 400m dash, Shaquena Foote finished 16th overall with a PR and earning a spot in Saturday's quarterfinals after running 52.20. As for the 800m run, Alex Lomeli placed third in her heat and 25th overall to qualify for the quarterfinal race on Saturday evening.

The Aztecs had Danae Dyer and Charlize James take part in the 100m hurdles and Rhea Hoyte in action in the 400m hurdles. Dyer finished 17th in 13.27 to qualify for the quarterfinals, while James finished in 21st with a quarterfinal qualifying mark of 13.42. Hoyte finished fifth in her heat of the 400m hurdles in 1:00.24.

Thalia Wilson competed in the javelin throw, finishing 43rd overall with a mark of 139-6 while Ashley Callahan represented the Aztecs in the pole vault, finishing 22nd overall with a vault of 13-00.25.

Up Next: The Aztecs return to action on Saturday for the final day of NCAA West Regional competition. Danae Dyer, Charlize James, Jessica Kain, Shaquena Foote, and Alex Lomeli will compete in the quarterfinals of their respective events while the 4x100 and 4x400 relays get underway in addition to the high jump, discus throw, and triple jump.
