SAN DIEGO -- San Diego State water polo player Rose Kanemy has earned inclusion on the 2023 At-Large Academic All-District Team, the College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced on Tuesday.

A communications major, Kanemy has a 3.82 GPA and has previously earned the Dr. Jim Malik Academic Achievement Award for maintaining a 4.0 GPA in Fall semester in 2021, was named an Aztec Scholar-Athlete, an Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches All-Academic Team selection, and a Golden Coast Conference (GCC) All-Academic Team honoree.

To be nominated for the CSC's honor, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at her current institution.

In the pool, the 2022 All-American led the team with 46 assists which was good for fifth in the GCC and eighth in the nation. In addition, she was No. 3 in shots (102), points (74), blocks (12) & sprints won (6) and was No. 4 in goals (28) among the Aztecs.

The Montreal, Canada native, assisted on at least one goal in 22 of her 27 appearances and in eight games recorded two or more assists. Her six-assist effort against Concordia in the quarterfinal round of the GCC Tournament matches the second most assists in a game by an Aztec in program history. She produced multiple shots in 26 appearances, including six games of five or more and a season-high eight vs. No. 8 Fresno State in the semifinal round of the GCC Tournament.

The Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-American Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected.
