COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- San Diego State softball's Allie Light has been named the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week for the fourth time of the season, the league announced Tuesday. An Aztec has now been named the MW Pitcher or Player of the Week a league-high seven times this year.

Light, who last month became the fourth SDSU player to be named the MW Pitcher of the Week in three consecutive weeks, led San Diego State to a 2-1 series win over MW-leading Boise State. The right-hander pitched in all three games, going 1-0 with a save and a 1.20 ERA in 11 2/3 innings, striking out five with just one walk allowed. Light held the Broncos, who came into the weekend leading the league in most offensive categories, including batting average (.318) and home runs (71), to a .209 average with just one home run in 43 at-bats.

Light picked up the save in a 5-3 Aztec win on Friday, tossing 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief with one strikeout, allowing just one hit and no walks. She then got the win on Saturday, giving up one unearned run on four hits and no walks over five innings as the starter, striking out two in a 10-1, six-inning victory. Light finished her weekend with 4 1/3 innings of relief on Sunday, yielding three runs (two earned) on four hits and a walk, striking out two in a 9-6 SDSU loss.

On the season, Light is 10-5 with a 1.64 ERA and a school-record seven saves in 102 1/3 innings. She has struck out 82 and limited the opposition to a .207 average. Light has been even more dominant in league play, going 7-1 with a 1.37 ERA and two saves in 61 1/3 innings, striking out 36 with an opponent average of .213.

San Diego State plays a pair of non-conference games at Easton Stadium in Los Angeles on Friday, first taking on LMU at 3:30 p.m. PT and following with No. 2/2 UCLA at 6 p.m. PT.
