San Diego State Heads to Utah State

SAN DIEGO -- Riding the momentum of a six-game winning streak, the San Diego State softball team hits the road for a weekend series at Utah State. The Aztecs (22-10, 6-3 MW) and Aggies (11-15, 3-3 MW) will play at 4 p.m. MT Thursday, 4 p.m. MT Friday and noon MT Saturday.
 
SDSU is batting .298 as a team and is led by Bella Espinoza's .393 average. Espinoza also paces San Diego State in runs (35), hits (42) and stolen bases, going 20-for-20 on the season. Jillian Celis is batting .385, while ranking second in RBIs (23), hits (40), runs (23) and slugging percentage (.596). Cali Decker (.333, 1 HR, 16 RBI, .442 OB%), Mac Barbara (.326, 6 HR, 27 RBI, .596 SLG%) and Macey Keester (.318, 14 RBI, 13 R, 9 SB) are also hitting over .300 for the Aztecs.
 
Four SDSU pitchers have logged at least 35 innings in the circle and have combined for five shutouts and 12 saves in its 22 wins. Allie Light (5-4, 1.63 ERA, 5 SV, 64.1 IP), Sarah Lehman (8-2, 2.25 ERA, 3 SV, 61.0 IP), Dani Martinez (3-2, 2.92 ERA, 36.0 IP) and Dee Dee Hernandez (4-2, 3.55 ERA, 4 SV, 45.1 IP) have done the bulk of the pitching for San Diego State.
 
San Diego State is 25-11 all-time against Utah State.
 
The Aggies, meanwhile, are hitting .258 with Claire Raley (.366, 3 HR, 13 RBI, 19 R, 11 SB) and Kya Pratt (.312, 3 HR, 10 RBI, 16 R) leading the way. The USU pitching staff has combined for a 4.50 ERA, led by Hailey McLean's 3.75 ERA and 6-3 record in 59 2/3 innings. Mia Reynolds (0-4, 4.58 ERA, 44.1 IP) and Tess Bumiller (3-5, 5.65 ERA, 34.2 IP) have also seen plenty of time in the circle for Utah State.
