SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State men's tennis team wraps up its lengthy homestand against the UNLV Rebels at the Aztec Tennis Center at 11 a.m. PT on Thursday, April 6. SDSU will then head to Logan, Utah, to battle the Utah State Aggies at Noon MT/11 a.m. PT on Saturday, April 8.

The Scarlet and Black (1-10, 0-1) fell to No. 63 Boise State at home by the score of 4-2 in its first Mountain West match of the season. It was the end of a very challenging stretch of the SDSU schedule in which the Aztecs had eight consecutive scheduled matches against ranked opponents. The only currently ranked opponent remaining on the slate for San Diego State is No. 69 New Mexico on April 20.

In the match, SDSU was led by junior Johannes Seeman (5-4). He won his singles match on the top court against Sam Sippel 6-4, 6-4. The Aztecs also won the doubles point thanks to wins by Seeman and Chikaya Sato over Simon Arca Costas and Michael Bott 6-4 and Alexander Mandma and Bora Sengul over Idriss Haddouch and Caden Moortgat 7-6 (12-10) in an incredibly close tiebreaker. San Diego State had lost the first doubles match on the third court and needed wins on both of the top two courts to come back and win the doubles point.

The Rebels (9-8, 1-1) lost 4-0 to Boise State and won 4-3 over Utah State last week to begin conference play. Meanwhile, the Aggies (7-11, 0-2) lost both Mountain West matches on the road in the Silver State to Nevada (4-2) and UNLV (4-3).

Last year, San Diego State dropped to 26-11 in the all-time series against UNLV with a 4-3 loss in Las Vegas. SDSU lost by the same score at home against Utah State to fall to 1-7 all time.

Next week, the Aztecs will return to The Mesa for Senior Day. The final home match of the season is scheduled for Sunday, April 16, at Noon PT, against the Nevada Wolfpack at the Aztec Tennis Center.
