BOISE, Idaho – San Diego State women's tennis earned their second win in a row on Sunday, knocking off Boise State 4-2. The Aztecs dropped the doubles point before earning four singles wins to earn the win.

To begin the day the Aztecs (10-5, 3-1 MW) sent out the same lineup as in Saturday's 4-0 sweep of Utah State in both doubles and singles play. But it was the Broncos (9-6, 2-2 MW) who jumped out to an early lead after securing the doubles point with wins on courts two and three, 6-2 and 6-1 respectively, and took a 1-0 lead into singles play.

The Aztecs responded well in singles play as all six Aztecs battled in lengthy first sets on all six courts. That battle paid off as all five of the six Aztecs earned first set wins, setting the tone for singles play. Alicia Melosch on court three tied the match at 1-1 when she won in straight sets. The senior won her first set 6-4, before dominating the second set, and won it 6-1 to pull the Aztecs back even. After that Joana Baptista put Boise State ahead 2-1, when she beat Rania Azziz 6-1, 6-2. But then the Aztecs won three straight matches.

After falling behind again, the Aztecs responded. Cecile Morin and Andreea Velcea both earned tiebreaker wins in their second sets. The duo each won their first sets, Morin won 6-2, while Velcea won 6-4. After that both Aztecs won their second set by a score of 7-5, and put SDSU ahead 3-2 in the match with two matches still in play.

Over on courts one and two Andjela Skrobonja and Tamara Arnold were battling with their opponents to see who would take home the match win. Both Aztecs won their opening sets, 6-2, before falling in their second sets 2-6 and 3-6 respectfully, taking both matches to a decisive third set. Then in the third set Arnold on court two slammed the door shut for the Aztecs. The senior earned a 6-1 win in her third set to clinch the match for the Scarlet and Black, and the Aztecs won the match 4-2.

Up Next: The Aztecs hit the road for the third weekend in a row next week when they continue Mountain West play in Laramie, Wyoming. SDSU will play Colorado State on Friday at 3 p.m. PT and Wyoming on Saturday at 10 a.m. PT.
