RENO, Nev. -- The San Diego State softball team dropped a 7-2 decision at Nevada to settle for a tie in a two-game weekend series Sunday afternoon at Christina M. Hixson Softball Park in Reno, Nevada. It was just the second loss for the Aztecs (27-12, 11-5 MW) over their last 13 games.

SDSU outhit the Wolf Pack (26-11, 7-6 MW), 9-7, but couldn't get enough runs across the plate after capturing the opener, 10-1, Saturday with 13 hits.

Nevada scored the first seven runs of the game, including one in the bottom of the first inning, four in the third and two in the fourth off a San Diego State pitching staff which had allowed just 30 runs over its previous 12 games.

The Aztecs finally broke through in the top of the seventh inning as Cali Decker led off with a single, was replaced by Elianna Reyes and AJ Murphy scored Reyes on a double. Two batters later, Macey Keester singled up the middle to plate Murphy for SDSU's second run of the game. Wolf Pack pitcher Carley Brown, however, got Bella Espinoza to ground out back to her in the circle to end the game and secure the series tie.

Alexis Otero led San Diego State with two hits, including a double, while Mac Barbara singled, walked and stole a base.

Allie Light took the loss for the Aztecs after allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits and no walks over 2 1/3 innings. Light, who has been named the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week each of the last three weeks, fell to 8-5 with the loss.
