SAN DIEGO - San Diego State water polo, the No. 24 ranked team in the nation, travels to Glendora, Calif., to face the Azusa Pacific Cougars in a Golden Coast Conference matchup on Saturday at Citrus College Aquatic Center in its final regular season road game. The contest is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. PT.

Legaspi Named Golden Coast Conference (GCC) Player of the Week
• Senior attacker Amanda Legaspi was named GCC Player of the Week on Thursday. She totaled a game-high five goals with four coming in the second half as the Aztecs defeated the California Baptist 13-6. With SDSU down 4-2 late in the first quarter, Legaspi scored the middle goal of a three-tally run. Her goal tied the game at 4-4 and helped propel San Diego State to a one-goal lead at the break. To open the third quarter, with the Aztecs up 6-5, Legaspi scored three unanswered goals in just over two minutes. Her second in the run, and third overall in the game, turned out to be the game winner. In addition to her five goals, she also assisted on two more, to be involved in seven of the team's 13 goals in the game and also drew a game-high five exclusions and had one steal.
 
About the Aztecs
• San Diego State's record stands at 10-15, 3-2 in Golden Coast Conference (GCC) play and in a three-way tie for third place in the standings. 
• The Aztecs are paced offensively by senior Amanda Legaspi and freshman Claudia Valdes who have scored 42 and 40 goals, respectively.  
• Valdes leads the team in shots (88), points (69), and steals (39).
• Legaspi has the best shot percentage (.483) among players who have attempted at least two shots in each game she has played, tops the squad in ejections drawn (48),and ranks second in shots (87), points (65) and steals (29).
• Sophomore Rose Kanemy has 33 assists to lead the team and is third in points (54), shots (77) and is fourth in goals (21).
• Sophomore Sophia Righetti has a team-best 14 field blocks.
• Freshmen Tiaare Ahovelo and Mandy Lagerlof have played all but eight minutes in goal.  Lagerlof is 6-10 in a team leading 425:12 minutes. Her GAA is 14.00 with a .441 save percentage and she has added six assists and 10 steals with a team-high 147 saves. Ahovelo has played 339:08 minutes with a 4-5 record and a goals against average of 10.57 with a .467 save percentage. She has stopped 98 shots and has seven assists and eight steals. 

Inside the Matchup
• In the all-time series, which began in 2014, the Aztecs hold a 10-1 advantage with all four of the games that have been played at Azusa Pacific ending in a San Diego State victory.
• The Aztecs are in a three-game win streak against the Cougars dating to the 2021 season, including a 10-5 win on March 31, 2021, the last time the teams met at the APU pool.
• Azusa Pacific enters the week with a 14-9 record and have won its last two contests and five of its last seven (5-2).
• The Cougars are 2-3 in Golden Coast Conference games this year.
• The Aztecs have outscored APU 39-22 in its four wins at the Cougars home pool which works out to 9.75-to-5.5 goals or more than four goals a game.
