SAN DIEGO –Amanda Legaspi, an attacker on the San Diego State water polo team, earned the Golden Coast Conference's Player of the Week honor for her play in last Thursday's 13-6 GCC victory against California Baptist. The announcement was made by the league office on Wednesday.

The La Verne, Calif., senior totaled a game-high five goals with four coming in the second half as the Aztecs outscored the Lancers 7-1 in the final 16 minutes to secure the victory.

With SDSU down 4-2 late in the first quarter, Legaspi scored the middle goal of a three-tally run. Her goal tied the game at 4-4 and helped propel San Diego State to a one-goal lead at the break.

To open the third quarter, with the Aztecs up 6-5, Legaspi scored three unanswered goals in just over two minutes. Her second in the run, and third overall in the game, turned out to be the game winner.

In addition to her five goals, she also assisted on two more, to be involved in seven of the team's 13 goals in the game and also drew a game-high five exclusions and had one steal.

This is Legaspi's first GCC Player of the Week honor and the first for an Aztec this year.
