Aztecs Wrap Up Competition at NCAA Zone E Meet

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – A trio of San Diego State divers concluded their stay at the NCAA Zone E Championships on Wednesday after completing the 1-meter springboard event at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.

Fifth-year senior Ximena Lechuga Gonzalez was the lone Aztec diver to qualify for the final round, finishing 12th overall with an aggregate 545.95 points after placing ninth in the preliminaries with 275.65 points.

Earlier in the day, sophomores Valentina Lopez Arevalo and Summer Westmoreland narrowly missed out on a berth in the 1-meter finals after finishing 22nd and 23rd in the preliminaries, respectively.

Lopez Arevalo racked up 248.00 points, just ahead of Westmoreland's total of 247.95 points. The top-18 finishers in the initial session earned a spot in the final round, with the 18th-place competitor totaling 255.85 points.

San Diego State will have three swimmers compete in the NCAA Championships, set for March 15-18 in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The Aztecs' Christiana Williams is slated to participate in the 100 and 200 breaststroke; Alex Roberts in the 100 and 200 backstroke as well as the 100 butterfly, and Kristina Murphy in the 200 and 400 individual medley as well as the 200 breaststroke.
