Aztec Divers Complete Day One at NCAA Zone E Meet

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Four San Diego State student-athletes completed the 3-meter springboard event on Monday at the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships inside Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.

However, the Aztecs were unable to advance any divers to the finals, which consist of the top-18 scoring individuals during the initial session.

Sophomore Emma Duggan was SDSU's highest placer on Monday, taking 31st in the preliminary round with a total of 244.75 points in six dives, followed by fellow classmate Valentina Lopez Arevalo, who finished in the 38th spot with 228.45 points.

In addition, sophomore Summer Westmoreland completed the round in the 45th position with 211.15 points, while  fifth-year senior Ximena Lechuga Gonzalez was 48th with 199.30 points.

The NCAA Zone E Diving Championships resume on Tuesday for San Diego State with platform competition. The Aztecs' Duggan, Lopez Arevalo and Lechuga Gonzalez will join Taylor Konopacke in the preliminary round, which gets underway at 11:30 a.m. PT to be followed immediately by the finals.
