SAN DIEGO -- San Diego State returns to Mountain West play this weekend for a three-game home series with San Jose State at SDSU Softball Stadium. The updated schedule includes game times of 5 p.m. PT Friday, 1 p.m. PT Saturday and noon PT Sunday.
The Aztecs (19-10, 3-3 MW) enter the weekend on a three-game winning streak, including an 8-4 victory at California Baptist on Tuesday night.
SDSU is hitting .300 as a team and is led by Bella Espinoza's .404 average. Espinoza also paces San Diego State in runs (31), hits (40) and stolen bases, going 18-for-18 on the season. Jillian Celis is batting .381, while ranking second in RBIs (23), hits (37), runs (18) and slugging percentage (.577). Macey Keester (.342, 12 R, 14 RBI, 7 SB), Cali Decker (.338, 1 HR, 12 RBI. .457 OB%) and Mac Barbara (.321, 5 HR, 24 RBI, .580 SLG%) are also hitting over .300 for San Diego State.
Four Aztecs have logged at least 30 innings in the circle and have combined for five shutouts in their 19 wins. Allie Light (4-4, 1.85 ERA, 5 SV, 56.2 IP). Sarah Lehman (6-2, 2.38 ERA, 3 SV, 47.0 IP), Dani Martinez (3-2, 2.97 ERA, 33.0 IP) and Dee Dee Hernandez (4-2, 3.47 ERA, 3 SV, 42.1 IP) have done the bulk of the pitching for SDSU.
San Diego State is 33-23 all-time against SJSU, including five straight wins in the series.
The Spartans (15-17, 3-3 MW) are hitting .274 with three regulars over .350 in Reina Zermeno (.364, 2 HR, 12 RBI), Karizma Bergesen (.353, 12 RBI, 10 R) and Alyssa Graham (.351, 4 HR, 19 RBI). The SJSU pitching staff is led by Lacie Ham (5-8, 3.87 ERA, 92.1 IP) and Jenessa Ullegue (7-4, 3.89 ERA, 54.0 IP).
