COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- San Diego State softball's Allie Light has been named the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. It is the first career weekly MW award for right-hander and second pitcher award by an Aztec this season.

Light helped the Aztecs to a series win over Fresno State last weekend. A native of Lexington, South Carolina, Light was 1-0 with a 1.40 ERA in 10 innings, pitching almost half (10 of 21) of SDSU's innings for the week. Light, who posted a 1.40 ERA while the rest of the staff combined for a 7.00 ERA, struck out 11 against just one walk, allowing only one extra-base hit (triple) out of the 12 hits given up.

Light started in a 6-3 loss to Fresno State, allowing two runs on seven hits, striking out six. Light then got the win in a 4-3 SDSU victory on Saturday after tossing 4 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and a walk, while striking out three. On Sunday, Light gave up three hits without issuing a walk in two innings of relief, striking out three, in SDSU's 7-4 victory.

On the season, Light is 4-4 with a 1.85 ERA and five saves in 56 2/3 innings. She has struck out 61 and limited the opposition to a .209 average.

San Diego State plays at California Baptist at 6 p.m. PT tonight in Riverside, California.
