LAS VEGAS – San Diego State women's tennis fell to Air Force 4-3 on Sunday morning at the Frank and Vicki Fertitta Tennis Complex. The Aztecs dropped the doubles point before earning three singles wins in singles play.

SDSU switched things up in doubles play to begin the day, as Andreea Velcea and Andjela Skrobonja moved up to court one, while Dariya Detkovskaya and Alicia Melosch were paired together for the first time in 2023 on court two. Rania Azziz and Cecile Morin rounded out the pairings for SDSU on court three. Detkovskaya and Melosch earned a win on court two, 6-1, to put the Aztecs up early, but Air Force would come back in the other two matches. They evened doubles play at 1-1 on court three, before coming from behind and earning the doubles point on court one, with the Falcons prevailing 6-4 to take the doubles point.

As for singles play the Aztecs used the same lineup that saw them emerge with a 4-1 win on Saturday over New Mexico. Detkovskaya evened the match at 1-1 after her second straight day with straight sets win on court two. The transfer from Oklahoma State posted a 6-4, 6-2 win on court two to even the match. Skrobonja quickly put the Aztecs up 2-1 moments later with another straight sets win for the Aztecs. On court one she dominated her opponent, only losing four games over the course of the match, winning 6-1, 6-3 to give the Aztecs the lead.

Elsewhere the Aztecs had a bit together of a test. Air Force evened the match at 2-2 when Melosch fell on court three, 6-1, 6-4. The Falcons would then take a 3-2 lead in the match when Velcea fell on court six, 6-3, 6-2. However, the Aztecs weren't done fighting, as both Azziz on court four and Morin on court five battled for the match win. Both Aztecs took their matches to a decisive third set as well. Azziz fell in her first set, 6-7 before earning a 7-5 win in set two to force a third set on court four. In that third set she jumped out to a 2-0 lead and cruising to a 6-2 win, evening the match at 3-3 with one match left. Morin won her first set 6-4, before falling in the second in a 7-6 tiebreaker, forcing a third set.

Up Next: The Aztecs hit the road again on Saturday to take on Utah State in Boise, Idaho. First serve is set for 10 a.m. MT.
