Aztecs Welcome Fresno State This Weekend

SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego State softball team returns to America's Finest City when it plays host to Fresno State in a weekend series at SDSU Softball Stadium.
 
The Aztecs (16-9, 1-2 MW) and Bulldogs (10-16, 0-0 MW) will tangle at 6 p.m. PT Friday, 4 p.m. PT Saturday and noon PT Sunday. The Friday game will be broadcast on SDSU softball's YouTube page, while the Saturday and Sunday games will be featured on the Mountain West Network.
 
Friday will be SDSU's first home game since beating Minnesota, 2-1, on March 7. It was San Diego State's sixth win of the season against a team that made the 2022 NCAA Tournament.
 
The Aztecs are 38th in country in the latest RPI, a mathematical calculation used to help determine each team's success, using a calculated strength of schedule and won-loss percentage. That is the top mark in the league followed by Boise State (44) and Nevada (85), Colorado State (91) and San Jose State (95).
 
Bella Espinoza and Jillian Celis have been the best hitters so far this year for SDSU with a .391 and .390 averages, respectively. Espinoza leads San Diego State in average (.391), runs (25), hits (34), triples (2) and stolen bases (16), while Celis paces the Aztecs in doubles (7) and RBIs (20, tied), and is second in average (.390), runs (15), hits (32), home runs (3) and on-base percentage (.446). Cali Decker (.344, 12 R, .469 OB%), Macey Keester (.328, 7 SB) and Mac Barbara (.319, 5 HR, 20 RBI) are also hitting over .3300 for SDSU.
 
Four San Diego State pitchers have logged between 28 and 47 innings, including Allie Light (3-4, 1.95 ERA, 5 SV, 46.2 IP), Dani Martinez (3-2, 1.95 ERA, 28.2 IP), Sarah Lehman (6-1, 2.08 ERA, 40.1 IP) and Dee Dee Hernandez (2-2, 3.38 ERA, 3 SV, 37.1 IP).
