SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State men's tennis team will play outside San Diego County for the first time this season with two matches in Los Angeles this weekend. SDSU will face the Loyola Marymount Lions at 2 p.m. PT on Friday, February 17, and the Utah Utes at noon PT the next day. Both matches will occur at the LMU Tennis Center.

The Scarlet and Black (1-2) will try to bounce back from a 4-1 loss to Santa Clara on February 11 at the Aztec Tennis Center. The Lions dropped to 2-2 with a 4-3 loss at UC Santa Barbara last Saturday. The Utes (6-2) are riding a four-match win-streak with victories over Cal Poly, Eastern Washington, Utah State and New Mexico. However, both Utah losses took place on neutral courts.

Last season, SDSU fell 4-1 to LMU to give the Lions a 4-1 lead in the all-time series. San Diego State was swept 4-0 by the Utes last season but lead that series 18-14, since 1989.

Utah boasts the No. 37-ranked singles player in Geronimo Busleiman and the No. 17-ranked doubles duo of Berk Bugarikj and Patrik Trhac.

The lone winner for SDSU against Santa Clara, Johannes Seeman defeated Arthur Neuhaus 6-4, 6-1 on the top court. It was his third win in straight sets to advance to 3-0 this spring.

Following this weekend, the Aztecs are off for the remainder of February. They will return to The Mesa to face UC Santa Barbara on Thursday, March 2. The Scarlet and Black will also be represented in the Pacific Coast Doubles Championships in La Jolla, Calif., from March 2-5.
