SAN DIEGO – San Diego State women's tennis hosts No. 54 Rice on Saturday morning at the Aztec Tennis Center. The match is set to begin at 10 a.m. PT and is the third match in a four match homestand for the Aztecs.

The Aztecs are a perfect 2-0 at home this season, having picked up wins over No. 40 Alabama, 4-3 on January 27, and a convincing 7-0 win over UC San Diego last week at the Aztec Tennis Center.  The win was the first ever for the Aztecs over the Crimson Tide and was also head coach Peter Mattera's 400th career win on The Mesa. In Rice, SDSU will be playing their third ranked opponent in four matches to open the 2023 dual match season. The Aztecs are 1-1 against ranked squads this season, having lost 6-1 at No. 14 USC to open the season before beating No. 40 Alabama in the team's home opener. All-time the Aztecs are 5-1 against the Owls and won the most recent matchup at the Aztecs Tennis Center 5-2 back in 2007.

Heading into Saturday's match, the Aztecs have three student-athletes ranked in the ITA singles rankings which were released on Wednesday. Dariya Detkovskaya headlines the SDSU athletes ranked, coming in at No. 81 in the country. She currently is 3-0 in singles play to start the season, including an impressive win over No. 26 in the county Snow Han of USC. Also ranked are Tamara Arnold and Andjela Skrobonja at 116 and 120 respectively.  Arnold is 2-1 in singles play to start the season, including picking up a straight sets win over No. 75 Petra Sedlackova of Alabama two weeks ago. Skrobonja, who was ranked No. 88 in the country after a solid fall individually, remains ranked to begin the spring. She, like Arnold, is 2-1 in singles play, having played exclusively at the number one singles spot, to start the season.

All matches will be streamed, and live results will be available throughout the match.

After Saturday mornings match, the Aztecs will wrap up their four game homestand on Thursday against Hawai'i at 2 p.m. PT
