SAN DIEGO – The Aztec women's basketball team plays at San Jose State Saturday at 1 p.m.
 
Aztec Tidbits
• SDSU is in a three-way tie for second place with Wyoming and Colorado State. They host both teams next week.
• The Aztecs are coming off a 67-51 win at Nevada Thursday night. SDSU had a season-high eight blocks and outscored the Wolf Pack 40-14 in the paint.
• SDSU's 19 wins are their most since the 2012-13 season.
• The Aztecs are amid a stretch of four straight road games. This is the first time SDSU has ever played four straight Mountain West road games in a row and the first time they've been on the road for four straight since November of 2008.
• Defensively, the Aztecs are first in the Mountain West in points allowed (56.3) and three-point percentage defense (.284) and second in steals per game (10.4).
• On offense, SDSU is second in the conference in assists per game (15.1).
• SDSU is in the top 30 in the nation in scoring defense (56.3), steals per game (10.4) and turnover margin (+4.8).
• The Aztecs have a 1.26 assist-to-turnover ratio in MW play. Their 1.07 ratio on the season is their best since the 1983-84 season.
• SDSU has six players averaging between 8.0 and 13.0 points/game.
• Six different Aztecs have scored in double-digits in at least nine games and four players have been the team's high scorer in at least five games.
• SDSU has six players in their fifth year of college and all six are currently pursuing a master's degree.
• The Aztecs also have six players who were top 100 recruits coming out of high school.
• Sophia Ramos is the only player in the nation with at least 1,800 points, 600 rebounds and 500 assists in her career.
• Ramos is second in school history in points and assists and is in the top three in program history in five other statistical categories including games (1st), made free throws (3rd), and made threes (3rd).
• Mercedes Staples is shooting 44.1% from three on the year and 40.0 percent in her SDSU career, the best in program history.
• Asia Avinger is the only player in the nation to average at least 12 points, four assists and two steals per game while shooting at least 50 percent from the floor.
• SDSU is 15-2 when scoring 60 or more points and 15-0 when their opponent is held under 60.
• In their 25 games, SDSU has had fewer turnovers than their opponent 20 times.
• SDSU has had more steals than their opponent in all but four games and their 10.4 swipes per game is 29th in the country.
• 14 of SDSU's 19 wins have been by double-digits and seven have been by at least 20 points.
• The Aztecs have held their opponent under 50 points eight times and under 40 percent shooting 15 times.
• SDSU is 13-1 at home this season with an average margin of victory of 19.8 points. Since the beginning of last year, the Aztecs are 23-6 inside Viejas Arena. SDSU's men's and women's teams have the most combined home wins in the nation.
• The Aztecs' 10-3 non-conference winning percentage was their best since the 1995-96 season (10-2, .833). According to the NET, SDSU played the second-hardest non-conference schedule in the Mountain West.
• Six Aztecs had at least a 3.50 GPA in the 2022 fall semester, including Sarah Barcello and Sophia Ramos who each had perfect 4.0s in their Master of Education program.
• Including SDSU, five Mountain West teams are in the top 115 of the NET. The Aztecs are ranked No. 91, third in the conference.

• Asia Avinger (Cerritos, Calif.) leads the Mountain West in steals per game (2.5) in conference play.
Sarah Barcello's (Phoenix, Ariz.) is shooting 44 percent from three in conference play.
• Alex Crain (McKinney, Texas) is shooting a career-best 34.1% from three.
• Yummy Morris (North Little Rock, Ark.) has scored in double-digits in six straight games, the longest streak on the team.
• 48.4% of Khylee Pepe's (Long Beach, Calif.) rebounds are on the offensive end, by far the most on the team.
Abby Prohaska (Liberty Township, Ohio) has led the Aztecs in scoring six times, the second most on the team.
• Sophia Ramos (San Antonio, Texas) has an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.26 in conference play.
• Mercedes Staples (Centerville, Utah) started her first game since Dec. 10 Thursday.
Kim Villalobos (Los Angeles) is averaging 9.9 points while shooting 54% from the field in conference play.
 
Opponent Notebook (San Jose State)
• The Spartans are 3-20 on the year and 1-11 in conference.
• They are 2-9 at home.
• Their lone conference win was a 77-59 victory over Utah State.
• On offense, they are last in the conference in points per game (55.4), turnovers (18.8) and assists per game (8.0)
• On defense, they force the second most turnovers in the conference (19.2).
• Marisa Davis-Jones leads the team with 11.0 points per game.
• Jada Holland averages 10.2 points per game and leads the Mountain West with 2.5 steals per game.
• Head coach April Phillips is in her first year as San Jose State's head coach. She made previous stops as an assistant at Texas, Cal, Arizona, LMU, Georgia Tech and New Haven.
