SAN DIEGO – Head men's soccer coach Ryan Hopkins has finalized SDSU's incoming 2022 class, which was named the top recruiting class in the nation by Top Drawer Soccer.
The 15-player incoming class features five defenders, five midfielders, three forwards and two goalkeepers. Four transfers will join 11 freshmen, six of which are ranked in Top Drawer Soccer's Top 150. The Aztecs are the only Pac-12 program to be ranked in the top 10 by Top Drawer Soccer.
"Bringing in 15 players in one class is probably best described as a labor of love," Coach Hopkins explained. "Each of these guys was specifically picked for their unique skill set on the field but most importantly for their character that makes them who they are. The ambitions of this group are to help San Diego State compete for trophies and I know their actions along the way will help us do that. A big thank you also must be given to our entire SDSU admissions team and to our assistant coaches in assembling this class."
MEET THE NEW AZTECS
Jules Anderson – Midfielder – 5'10" – 160 lbs. – Virginia – Philadelphia Union Academy – YSC Academy – Ocean, N.J.
Coach Hopkins' Take: "Julian is a versatile central midfielder that has played in a lot of big ACC games at the University of Virginia. His vision to unlock defenses and play final passes in behind teams will bring a different dimension to our team and should help us create high quality scoring chances next year."
At Virginia (2020-21)
Appeared in 20 games while starting 11 times… Started nine of 13 games in 2021, including the first four… Played 749 minutes and attempted nine shots.

Alex Borsos – Midfielder – 5'9" – 160 lbs. – Houston Dynamo Academy – Strake Jesuit – Houston, Texas
Coach Hopkins' Take: "Simply put, Alex is a competitor. He is a first guy in, last guy out of the building type of guy and his hunger to succeed and better himself is what drew us to him. He is gaining valuable experience with the Houston Dynamo's U-23 team that is a great stepping stone for college soccer. His work rate, positioning, and mentality will add a lot to our defensive midfield group, and we look forward to watching him put his body on the line with his tackling while having the composure to construct our attacks from deeper positions."

Borsos was a four-star recruit, ranked as the No. 119th player in the nation, 10th in Texas, and 44th midfielder by Top Drawer Soccer… A Houston Dynamo Academy product, where he trained with the Dynamo's first team… Was the team captain with the Dynamo on their U-15 and U-17 squads... Received a call up the U.S. U-15 National Team... Was in the Generation Adidas Supergroup in 2020… Attended Strake Jesuit College Prep where he was an honor roll student.

He has scored goals at the national team level, USL Championship level and I have no doubt he will score at the collegiate level. He absolutely loves San Diego State and is thrilled to represent his hometown Aztecs."

A standout at Oceanside HS where he was a three-time All-League First Team selection, while helping his school win two league championships (2018 & 2019) and then 2019 CIF DII championship… Was an All-CIF San Diego Section First Team selection his senior year… Also played for San Diego Loyal Select and Oceanside Breakers, helping the Breakers win the 2019 state championship… Was an honor roll student at Oceanside HS (3.5 GPA or better).

His passion for the game and dedication should help a young growing Aztecs group."

At Old Dominion (2019-21)
Was a three-year starter at Old Dominion… Was named to the All-Conference USA Third Team following the 2020 season when he had a goals allowed average of 1.60 and ranked 17th in the country with 4.62 saves per game… Earned Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week twice that year… As a freshman, appeared in 14 games, played 1,311:15 minutes and recorded 55 saves with a .640 save percentage… In 2021 started all 14 matches, made 54 saves and had a .667 save percentage.

Attended the prestigious Barça Residency Academy in Casa Grande, Arizona where he played on the No. 1 ranked DA team… Started his prep career at Boulder HS (Colo.) where he was a first team all-state selection as a sophomore after helping his team go 21-0, win a state championship and receive a ranking of No. 2 in the nation.
Berin Droemer – Forward – 5'9" – 150 lbs. – Dallas, Texas – Solar S.C.
Coach Hopkins' Take: "Berin has one of the best attributes you can look for in an attacking player, the guy can score goals. At every level he has been at, he puts the ball in the back of the net. In our sport, where scoring is at a premium, these types of players are worth their weight in gold. Berin also adds a speed component to our attack and work rate that will suit our pressing style very well on defense."

A four-star recruit, Droemer was ranked No. 84 in his class by Top Drawer Soccer, the No. 16 forward in the nation and No. 7 overall in Texas… Scored 29 goals while playing for the FC Dallas Academy, one of the top academies in the U.S., and 20 in 2021 with Solar S.C…. He can play a variety of positions and is always willing to do whatever it takes for his team to get results.
