ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – San Diego State women's soccer goalkeeper Alexa Madueno and defender Kiera Utush were both named to the Mountain West All-Tournament team, the conference announced on Saturday evening. Both Madueno and Utush played every minute in both matches in the conference tournament.
Madueno earned her spot on the All-Tournament team after only giving up one goal over two matches in the MW tournament. She also saved a penalty in regulation during the Aztecs 0 (19) – 0 (18) marathon penalty shootout win over Utah State in the quarterfinal round of the tournament. The junior keeper finished the tournament with five penalty saves, including the initial save in regulation of the quarterfinal round.
Utush earned a spot on the all-tournament team having been a force at the back all tournament for the Aztecs. She played a part in the Aztecs only giving up one goal over 200 minutes of game action during the tournament and converted all three of her penalty kicks in the Aztecs penalty shootout win over Utah State.
San Diego State's season came to a close on Wednesday when the Aztecs fell to top seeded Wyoming in the Mountain West conference tournament semifinal, 1-0.
