PALOS VERDES, Calif. – Chikaya Sato and Johannes Seeman played three matches, one singles and two doubles, for the San Diego State men's tennis team on Saturday, the second day of the Jack Kramer Collegiate Classic, and swept all three. In doubles, the pair advanced to the finals while Seeman moved on to the semifinals in singles.
Seeman, the 5-seed, battled Oregon's Ray Lo in the quarterfinals and earned a 6-1, 7-5 victory to advance. His next opponent is Toky Nicolas Ranaivo of Loyola Marymount with the winner advancing to the final.
Sato, who did not play singles on Saturday, will face UC San Diego's Phillip Lan in the consolation Round of 16.
In doubles, the pair started out against Oregon's Vlad Breazu and Jesper Klov-Nilsson and won 8-5. Next, they dueled the tournament's top seeded duo of Kai Brady and Pablo Masjuan, of UC Santa Barbara and battled their way to an 8-6 comeback to earn a spot in tomorrow's final. Sato and Seeman will face Arizona's Dominique Rolland and Eric Padgham for the doubles championship.
The Jack Kramer Collegiate Classic concludes Sunday, Nov. 6.
