SAN DIEGO – San Diego State sophomore Reagan Merk (Huntington Beach, Calif./Mater Dei HS) was named to the CSC Academic All-District Women's Volleyball Team for her combined performance in the classroom and on the court, as announced recently by College Sports Communicators, formerly known as the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

With her selection, Merk earned a spot on the CSC Academic All-America ballot, which is open for voting by CSC membership until Dec. 6. First, second and third-team CSC Academic All-America honorees will be revealed in late December.

A communication major who is also pursuing a minor in marketing, Merk has maintained a 3.7 cumulative grade point average, garnering Mountain West all-academic accolades and conference scholar-athlete distinction following her freshman season in 2021. The Huntington Beach, California, native has additionally received SDSU scholar-athlete recognition on two occasions.

During the 2022 campaign, Merk saw action in 20 games as a reserve, finishing with 17 kills, 45 digs and five service aces, as the Aztecs secured a berth in the Mountain West Championship, where they defeated tournament host and No. 3 seed Colorado State in the first round before falling to second-seeded San José State in the semifinals.

In a must-win situation during the Scarlet and Black's regular-season finale at SJSU on Nov. 19, Merk tied her career-high with seven digs and added three kills to help San Diego State capture its sixth match in nine outings and clinch the sixth and final spot in the MW Championship.

Earlier in the season, the Aztec outside hitter also totaled seven scoops vs. Maryland at home on Sept. 9, after equaling her career best with seven kills against UC Santa Barbara at the Pepperdine ASICS Classic on Sept. 4.

As a freshman in 2021, Merk recorded 29 kills, 40 digs and five service aces in 18 matches off the bench. In her first collegiate start vs. UC Riverside at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational, she launched seven kills and totaled six digs, contributing to SDSU's 3-0 sweep.
