COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Yummy Morris was named the Mountain West Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Morris (North Little Rock, Ark.), a fifth-year senior, averaged 15.5 points and shot 65 percent (13-for-20) from the field while helping SDSU beat Grambling State and Seattle.
The TCU transfer also averaged 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 1.5 blocks per game last week. She had a season-high 19 points on 7-for-9 shooting in SDSU's 70-36 win over Seattle last Friday.
Morris is the first Aztec to win the Mountain West Player of the Week award in nearly two years (Sophia Ramos, Nov. 30, 2020).
The Aztecs (6-1) have won six games in a row and are off to their best start in 15 years (2007-08 season, 8-1). SDSU plays at UC San Diego Thursday night.
