COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San Diego State freshman Madison Corf received all-Mountain West honorable mention on Wednesday, as the league announced its 2022 postseason awards in advance of the MW Championship in Fort Colins, Colorado.
The league's 11 head coaches voted for the 18-player all-conference team encompassing the MW schedule only, with six additional nominees earning honorable mention.
A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Corf averaged 2.71 kills (171 overall) and 1.89 digs per set (119 overall) against league foes while adding 14 blocks and 13 service aces, giving the Aztecs at least one all-MW honoree for the eighth year in a row.
In SDSU's 3-1 triumph vs. Nevada in its MW opener on Sept. 24, Corf blasted a career-high 22 kills, which is tied for the fifth-best in total for a four-set match in the conference this season. The Aztec outside hitter also led all players with 21 put-aways in the Scarlet and Black's 3-1 victory over Air Force on Oct. 22.
In SDSU's home sweep of Fresno State on Nov. 7, Corf notched a career-best .667 hitting percentage on 15 kills in 21 attempts with just one error, marking the fifth-best efficiency in the league this year.
A former AVCA High School All-American, Corf also logged her first career double-double with 15 kills and 11 digs vs. Colorado State on Oct. 15.
In all, Corf has started 23 of 29 matches in her rookie campaign, leading the team with 256 kills while ranking second with 2.56 put-aways per set. She has surpassed the double-digit kill plateau in 10 matches, which is tied for second on the squad.
Corf and the Aztecs open the MW Championship this afternoon with a quarterfinal matchup vs. tournament host Colorado State, starting at 3 p.m. PT.
