SAN DIEGO – The Aztec women's basketball team (3-1) goes for their fourth win in a row when they host Portland (2-1) Friday evening at 6 p.m.
 
Aztec Tidbits
• SDSU is on a three-game winning streak with wins over San Diego Christian (81-30), Antelope Valley (95-41) and Southeastern Louisiana (69-35). They have an average winning margin of 39.3 points over that span.
• The Aztecs had back-to-back 50+ point wins for the first time since 1984.
• Against Southeastern Louisiana SDSU won 69-53, outscoring the Lions 18-3 in the fourth quarter which included finishing the game on an 11-0 run.
• Mercedes Staples led the Aztecs with 18 points and was a perfect 6-for-6 from three to become the first Aztec in the Mountain West era to make six or more three-pointers without a miss.
Abby Prohaska was 12-for-12 from the free throw line vs. Antelope Valley (Nov. 12), making her just the second Aztec in the Mountain West era to make at least 12 free throws without a miss (Sophia Ramos, 16-16 vs. New Mexico 1-29-20). Prohaska's 16 made free throws leads the conference and is already more than she had in each of her last two seasons at Notre Dame.
• Fifth year senior Sophia Ramos (San Antonio, Texas) is one of three players in the nation with career totals of at least 1,500 points, 500 rebounds and 400 assists. Of that trio, she is the only one with at least 100 made three-pointers.
• Ramos is in the top 10 in program history in nine statistical categories and in the top five in six, including made threes (4th), points (5th), assists (5th) and made free throws (5th).
• Point guard Asia Avinger (Cerritos, Calif.) had 11 points, seven assists, six rebounds and three steals against Southeastern Louisiana. Last season, she was one of just four freshmen in the nation to average at least 11.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.
• The Aztecs are second in the Mountain West in scoring defense (52.5), field goal percentage defense (.342) and rebounds per game (42.5).
• SDSU is in a stretch of six straight home games. After Portland, they will host Grambling State (Nov. 22) and Seattle (Nov. 25).
• The Aztecs are 3-0 inside Viejas Arena this season and went 10-5 at home last year, their most home wins and best home winning percentage since the 2012-13 season.
• The Aztecs received votes in the preseason USA Today Coaches poll.
 
So Much Depth
• SDSU has six players in their fifth year of college and 10 of their 13 scholarship players are upperclassmen.
• The Aztecs have 10 players averaging 15 or more minutes per game and none playing more than 30.
• SDSU has seven players averaging between seven and 14 points per game.
• The Aztecs have already had eight players score in double-digits through four games.
• Six Aztecs average between 4.0 and 5.5 rebounds and as a team, SDSU has a +6.5 rebound margin per game.
 
Season Accomplishments

• The Aztecs' two 50+ point victories were their largest margin of victory since Dec. 18, 2007, a 91-33 win over Navy.

Opponent Notebook (Portland)
• The Pilots are 2-1 on the year.
• They went 20-11 last year and made the WNIT where they lost to Oregon State in the second round.
• Their wins this year are against Willamette (92-56) and Hawaii (70-54).
• They lost at No. 2 Stanford 87-47.
• They have three players averaging double-digits led by Maisie Burnham's 15.3 points.
• Burnham also leads the team with 6.3 rebounds per game
• Liana Kaitu'u is 15-for-21 from the field and is averaging 13.0 points per game.
