SAN DIEGO – San Diego State women's tennis earned nine wins on Friday while hosting the SDSU Fall Classic II and competing at the Watanabe Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Aztecs posted an impressive three wins over power-five opponents on Friday and earned wins in every match they took part in at the SDSU Fall Classic II.

SDSU Fall Classic II – San Diego, Calif.
The Aztecs opened the day at the SDSU Fall Classic II with two wins in doubles play. In the black flight Tamara Arnold and Rania Azziz earned the first win of the day for the Aztecs with a 6-4 win over Renata Gabuzyan and Kenzington Mann of Eastern Washington. Over in the red flight, Cecile Morin and Alexandria Von Tersch Pohrer also won their match, but there's took a bit longer. Thee Aztec duo who were playing together for the first time this fall earned a back-and-forth win over Eva Beyebach and Magda Tuells of UTSA 7 (11) - 6 (9) to progress to the semifinal round.

As for singles play, the Aztecs continued their perfect record on the day and recorded three wins. Arnold dominated her match, beating Gabriella Pachl of UCSD 6-0, 6-1 to advance to the semifinals of the gold flight. Additionally, Cecile Morin also earned a straight sets win of her own, dispatching Renata Gabuzyan of Eastern Washington 6-2, 6-3 to advance to the semifinals of the black flight. Finally in the red flight, Von Tersch Pohrer earned the Aztecs fifth and final win of the day in a three-set thriller. She won the first set 6-4 over Katelyn Vu of UCSD, before dropping the second set 2-6. She then came back in the final set, winning it 6-2 to take the match and advance to the semifinals. 

Watanabe Classic – Las Vegas, Nev.
As for the Watanabe Classic hosted by UNLV, San Diego State earned five total wins across six matches on Friday. The Aztec duo of Alicia Melosch and Andreea Velceea beat Horwood and Hersh of Utah, 6-2. As for the other doubles match, Skrobonja and Detkovskaya fell in a tightly contested match, 7-5 to Hayashida and Mehra of Iowa.

In singles action in Las Vegas, all four Aztecs earned wins, bringing the Aztecs total win tally on the day to nine. Skrobonja continued her perfect day with a straight sets win over Sarah Medik of Long Beach State, winning 6-3, 6-2. Detkovskaya followed that up with the first of three wins over power-five opponents for the Aztecs. She took down Mannix of Iowa in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1. Continued the winning trend for the Aztecs when she beat Teixido of Oregon in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2. Finally, Velceea also earned a win in her match, dispatching Horwood of Utah in three sets 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 to wrap up the day for the Aztecs.
