SAN DIEGO – San Diego State women's tennis concluded their second day of play at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships on Friday at the Aztec Tennis Center. SDSU collected four wins on the day, two of which came from Andjela Skrobonja as she advanced to the quarterfinals of singles play on Friday.

In her opening singles match of the day Skrobonja collected an impressive win over Jordyn McBride of USD in a hard-fought match with a final score of 6-4, 6-2 in the round of 32. She would then continue her winning ways into the round of 16, playing phenomenally and beating Arizona State's Sedona Gallagher in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. She found ways to get going in the second sets of both matches, catching fire and finishing her performances off strongly. Skrobonja will look to carry her momentum into tomorrow.

Tamara Arnold would emulate her teammate's success in the round of 32, closing out a three-hour marathon of a match in her bout against Kira Reuter of UCSB 7-6 (4), 2-6, 6-2. Arnold's round of 16 match yielded yet another test of endurance, however this time falling just short to Savannah Broadus of Pepperdine in a spirited, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 effort.

Elsewhere in the action, Dariya Detkovskaya, Andreea Velcea, and Alicia Melosch all competed in consolation singles matches throughout the day. Detkovskaya was determined in her win over Nikola Homolkova of Hawai'i, edging out a 7-5, 7-6 (3) victory. Velcea fell in straight sets to Isabella Tcherkes-Zade of Loyola Marymount, 6-3, 6-4, and Melosch lost in a super tiebreaker to Kayla Wilkins of Arizona, 2-6, 7-5 (10).

On Friday morning, Skrobonja and Detkovskaya, coming off of a tournament win as a duo, continued their momentum into the doubles round of 32 and picked up a convincing win over Dania Deaifi and Valentina Del Marco of Grand Canyon University 8-2. The pair was in control from the start, concluding their match within just over 30 minutes. Also playing in the doubles bracket was the team of Arnold and Melosch, who fell to UCSB's Amelia Honer and Marta Gonzalez-Ballbe 8-5.

Up next: Skrobonja will compete in the singles quarterfinal round tomorrow, and the team of Skrobonja and Detkovskaya will compete in the doubles quarterfinal round as well.
