COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The San Diego State swimming and diving team netted two Mountain West weekly awards on Tuesday, as Kristina Murphy garnered conference swimmer of the week accolades, while Ximena Lechuga Gonzalez was named the league's co-diver of the week.

The Aztec duo merited MW weekly honors after propelling the Scarlet and Black to a second-place finish at the Chick-Fil-A Invitational, Oct. 7-8, in Fresno, California.

Murphy's conference weekly plaudit represents the first of her career, while Lechuga Gonzalez received diver of the week recognition for the eighth time as an Aztec.

A native of Clarksburg, California, Murphy was SDSU's and the conference's top finisher in all four individual races she competed at the meet, placing no lower than sixth overall in those events.

Highlighting the weekend for the Aztec senior was an event title in the 200 breaststroke when she touched the wall with a time of 2:14.40. She also finished fourth in the 400 individual medley after clocking in at 4:19.55 while placing fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.86) and sixth in the 200 IM (2:03.43).

In addition, Murphy anchored SDSU's runner-up 400 freestyle relay team, which finished at 3:24.67 and competed in the Aztecs' 200 medley relay (1:43.77) and 800 freestyle relay (7:34.73) that logged a pair of fifth-place results.

Not to be outdone, Murphy also raced in SDSU's 83-59 dual-meet victory at Pepperdine, swimming anchor for the Aztecs' triumphant 200 freestyle relay team that finished with a winning time of 1:13.01, which was almost nine seconds faster than the Waves' runner-up quartet.

With Murphy's contribution, SDSU has won 38 consecutive dual meets since Jan. 8, 2018.

In addition, Lechuga Gonzalez captured the 1-meter diving title with 275.95 points, surpassing the zone qualifying score (265) while emerging victorious in the event for the 10th time in her Aztec career.

A senior from Tijuana, Mexico, Lechuga Gonzalez topped the second-place finisher (262.90) by 13.05 points in the 16-diver field.

The SDSU senior also posted a third-place finish out of 17 competitors in the 3-meter event with a score of 262.55, which netted the Aztecs 16 team points on the first day of the meet.

San Diego State will return to action Oct. 21-22 for the two-day GCU quad meet in Phoenix, Arizona. In addition to host Grand Canyon, the Aztecs will square off against Loyola Marymount and Seattle U.
