COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San Diego State's Tyler Kowack (San Diego/Canyon Crest Academy) has been named the Mountain West Men's Golf Freshman of the Month, the league announced Friday. It is the first career conference accolade for Kowack.

Competing in the first two collegiate events of his career, Kowack had a pair of top-10 finishes in September, while recording a 69.83 scoring average. Kowack made his collegiate debut at the Maui Jim Individual (Sept. 10-11), tying for fourth at 8-under 208. Competing in the team's starting five for the first time at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate (Sept. 23-24), Kowack tied for seventh out of 104 golfers at 5-under 211, helping the Aztecs to an eight-stroke team victory over runner-up and host New Mexico.

SDSU completes its fall portion of the schedule, Oct. 10-11, at the Wolf Pack Intercollegiate at Hidden Valley C.C., in Reno, Nevada.
