SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State baseball team will hold its annual Halloween Game on Sunday, Oct. 30 at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
The traditional intrasquad matchup featuring Aztec student-athletes and coaches in full costume will begin immediately following the Challenger Game, which is scheduled to get underway at noon.
Admission is free and gates will open to the public at 11:30 a.m.
Challenger Game competitors from any age and ability are welcome to join the SDSU players on the field. In addition, candy and treats will be provided.
This year, the SDSU baseball program has partnered with the Downs Syndrome Association of San Diego (DSA) and Noah Homes for its Halloween Game festivities.
DSA is the lead organization on Down syndrome in San Diego County, serving more than 1,000 families and professionals. Throughout the years, DSA has established numerous community partners who support and augment services for families and enrich the lives of people with Down syndrome. DSA is actively engaged in key local, state and national initiatives, influencing policy and practices that impact health care, education and social service programs.
Meanwhile, Noah Homes is a nonprofit whose mission has been providing exceptional residential services and opportunities to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1983, including advocacy and community partnership. According to the organization's website, the goal of Noah Homes is to maximize each individual's independence in a community environment that fosters dignity and respect, as well as personal and spiritual growth.
Also in the works for the Aztecs' gala event are special appearances by the San Diego State softball and lacrosse teams.
