SAN DIEGO – San Diego State's Jack Browning (Lakeside, Calif./West Hills HS/Grossmont College) has been named the Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. It is the first career MW accolade for Browning, who helped the Aztecs (2-2) to a 17-14 win over Toledo on Saturday.
 
In the kicking game, Browning made his only field goal attempt - a career-long 50-yarder - and was 2-for-2 in PATs. Browning also punted nine times for 364 yards (40.4 avg.) (three of his punts started in Toledo territory) with a long of 56 yards. Out of his nine punts, six landed inside the 20 (last six of the game) and three inside the 10, with Toledo averaging a 21.7-yard starting fielding position. Browning also kicked off four times for a 64.2 average with two touchbacks. Off his four kickoffs, Toledo averaged a 22-yard starting field position. Out of his 13 overall kicks (punts and kickoffs), Toledo averaged starting on its own 21.8-yard line.
 
On the season, Browning has made all four of his field goal attempts and all 10 PATs, while kicking off 17 times for a 65.1 average and 13 touchbacks. As a punter, Browning has punted 26 times for 1,139 yards (43.8 avg.) with 16 inside the 20-yard line, including nine inside the 10. 

Browning leads the Mountain West in punts inside the 20-yard line (16, 2nd in FBS), kickoff average (65.12, 4th in FBS) and kickoff touchback percentage (76.47, 16th in FBS), and is tied for first in field goal percentage (100.00, T-1st in FBS) and PAT percentage (100.00, T-1st in FBS) and tied for second in total punts (27, T-9th in FBS). Browning is also third in the league in punt average (43.81, 35th in FBS), fourth in total punt yards (1,181, 9th in FBS), kickoff touchbacks (13, T-51st in FBS) and net punt average (39.35, 70th in FBS), tied for fifth in made PATs (10) and attempted PATs (10), eighth in field goals per game (1.00, T-63rd in FBS), total field goals made (4, T-64th in FBS), kickoff yards (1,107) and total field goal attempts (4), and tied for eighth in total kickoffs (17).

A former walk-on, Browning received a scholarship after Sunday's practice.
