SAN DIEGO -- One former Aztec finished in the top 5 in a golf tournament while another trio started games in the MLB..

In the MLB, infielder Ty France (2013-15) started four games at first base for Seattle. Last week, he collected three hits with five RBIs. On Tuesday night, France knocked in a two-run single to tie the Los Angeles Angels at 2-2. He drove in two more on Friday night in Oakland and put Seattle on the board in its loss to the Athletics on Saturday. He currently leads the American League with 17 hit-by-pitches. On the season, France is batting .283 with a .353 on-base percentage, 14 home runs, 62 RBIs and 44 runs. Catcher Seby Zavala (2012-15) started at catcher for the Chicago White Sox in four games while coming off the bench once. Last week, he knocked a pair of hits with a .400 on-base percentage and scored twice. So far this season, Zavala is batting .275, with a .331 on-base percentage, two homers, 18 RBIs and 15 runs. Pittsburgh outfielder Greg Allen (2012-14) started five games in the outfield and appeared in all seven. On the week, he put together a .429 on-base percentage with three hits, three runs scored, and two stolen bases. This season, Allen has 14 hits, 11 runs scored, five RBIs, a homer, and six stolen bases. Washington pitcher Stephen Strasburg (2007-09) is on the 60-Day IL and is not expected to return this season. 

On the PGA Tour, Xander Schauffele (2013-15) tied for third in the BMW Championship at 11-under-par while J.J. Spaun (2009-12) tied for 23rd at 5-under. Schauffele is ranked fifth in the world and qualified for the TOUR Championship this weekend in Atlanta, where he will start at -6, four shots behind Scottie Scheffler.
