SAN DIEGO – Alicia Melosch and Agustina Rimoldi Godoy have each been named an ITA scholar-athlete, while San Diego State has been named an ITA All-Academic Team, the ITA announced on Tuesday afternoon.

"I am very proud of our programs continued success in the classroom as demonstrated by these awards," head coach Peter Mattera said. "We pride ourselves in supporting the academic mission of San Diego State and the athletic department. These awards are the results of a lot of hard work by both the student-athletes, as well as all the staff that works tirelessly in the athletic departments academic area."

To be named an ITA scholar-athlete, student-athletes must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form. This is both Melosch's and Rimoldi Godoy's second time earning ITA scholar-athlete status.

On the team side, to be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale). Additionally, all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.

The Aztecs are returning five athletes who played key roles on the 2021-22 team that went 19-7, won the conference tournament, and qualified for the NCAA Tournament. The Aztecs 19 wins during the 2021-22 season were their most since the 2012-13 season, and their 6-2 record in conference play was the squads best win-percentage since the 2012-13 season as well.
