SAN DIEGO -- One former Aztec won his sixth tournament on the PGA Tour while another played in all of his MLB team's games this week.

On the PGA Tour, Xander Schauffele (2013-15) won the Travelers Championship at 19-under-par, his sixth victory on the PGA Tour. Schauffele, who is ranked 11th in the world and eighth in the FedEx Cup standings, started out with back-to-back 63s to head into the weekend with the lead. He then shot a 67 on Saturday and a 68 on Sunday, highlighted by a birdie on the 18th to win by two shots. J.J. Spaun (2009-12) and Scott Piercy (1999-2001) did not make the cut at the event. This weekend, Piercy is competing in the John Deere Classic, in Silvis, Illinois.

In the MLB, infielder Ty France (2013-15) started three games at first base for Seattle before suffering an injury and being placed on the 10-Day IL. Prior to the injury, he hit .364, with two runs scored and an RBI. He currently leads all of baseball with 14 hit-by-pitches. France started off the week continuing his hot streak, singling in a run and scoring twice on Tuesday against Oakland. In Thursday's series finale, third baseman Sheldon Neuse collided with him at first base on an infield single in the fifth inning. France left the game with what was later determined to be a flexor strain in his left arm. On the season, France is batting .316 with a .390 on-base percentage, 10 home runs, 45 RBIs and 32 runs. Catcher Seby Zavala (2012-15) appeared in all seven of the games for the Chicago White Sox. He started three at catcher and one at first base while coming off the bench to catch three times. For the week, he batted .235, with a .278 on-base percentage, two RBIs and a run scored. He drove in a run in each of Saturday's and Sunday's contests, with Sunday's RBI being the difference in a 4-3 victory. So far this season, Zavala is batting .273, with a .286 on-base percentage, a home run, six RBIs and four runs. Washington pitcher Stephen Strasburg (2008-09) is on the 15-Day IL with a stress reaction in his ribs. Outfielder Greg Allen (2012-14) is spending at least the first two months of the season on the 60-Day IL for Pittsburgh.
