SAN DIEGO – Head coach Stacie Terry-Hutson has announced that seniors Mallory Adams, Alex Crain, Sophia Ramos and Mercedes Staples will be returning for the 2022-23 season, utilizing the extra year of eligibility offered by the NCAA due to COVID-19.

The quartet has combined to play in 365 games while making 246 starts and scoring 3,282 points in their careers. The Aztecs, who had their most wins since the 2012-13 season last year, return 90 percent of their scoring from a season ago.

Ramos (San Antonio, Texas) is a four-year starter, a three-time All-Mountain West honoree and is the only Aztec in program history to total over 1,500 points, 500 rebounds and 400 assists in her career. She ranks top 10 in school history in nine statistical categories.

Adams (Frisco, Texas) has career averages of 10.7 points and 6.9 rebounds per game and totaled 881 points and 563 rebounds across 82 career games. Last season, she set career-highs for field goal and three-point percentage and led the Mountain West in three-pointers per game in conference play.

Staples (Centerville, Utah) has started all 52 games for SDSU since transferring from Minnesota while averaging 10.8 points per game. Last season, she led the Aztecs with a 39.2 three-point percentage to boost her career rate as an Aztec to 37.7, the fifth best percentage in school history.

Crain (McKinney, Texas) has appeared in 43 games while making 13 starts in her two years at SDSU after transferring from TCU. As one of the Aztecs' best on-ball defenders, she has played a key role off the bench for SDSU.
