SAN DIEGO – The Aztec water polo team (11-14, 3-4) fell to No. 16 Pacific (11-10, 5-1) 14-8 at the Aztec Aquaplex Saturday afternoon.
 
SDSU outshot the Tigers 29-25 but had just a .276 shot percentage compared to Pacific's .560.
 
Karli Canale got the Aztecs on the board with 7:14 left in the first quarter but then the Tigers reeled off four straight goals and held the lead for the remainder of the game.
 
SDSU would allow five goals in the first and third quarter and only topped two goals in a quarter once, in the fourth when the game was already out of reach.
 
Pacific led by as much as seven goals (12-5) but then SDSU scored three of the next four to pull within five (13-8) late in the fourth period.
 
Katie Ratcliff the Aztecs with a hat trick and Spencer Samuel and Rose Kanemy each scored twice. Karli Canale also found the back of the net while recording six steals. Ratcliff, Samuel and Kanemy all dished out an assist as well.
 
Pacific was led by Brianna Utas' four goals. Emma Myall and Mariana Duarte provided a hat trick and two other Tigers scored twice.
 
The Tigers' Clara Vulpisi collected 13 saves and Raquel de Pinho had five in three quarters of action. Zoe Morgan was in goal for a quarter but didn't record a save and allowed just one goal.
