SAN DIEGO – The Aztec track and field team continued competition on Saturday for the second of three days at the Sun Angel Classic hosted by Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz., and had athletes competing at the Triton Invitational. Jenna Fee Feyerabend won the heptathlon and Ashley Callahan won the pole vault, while multiple Aztecs set new personal records.

Sara Absten and Feyerabend continued to thrive in the heptathlon on Saturday. In the first event of the day she won the long jump competition in 18-11.75, while Feyerabend came in second in the event to put the Aztecs in first and second place overall heading into the final two events.

Feyerabend then came in second in the javelin throw to put her into first place entering the 800m run. Her throw of 130-07 (39.81) is a new personal best for the Germany native. In the 800m run, Feyerabend did enough to clinch first place in the heptathlon, running 2:23.20 to finish third in the event. 

All three heptathlon athletes for the Aztecs set new PR's. Feyerabend won the event with 5,509 points, Absten came in third with 5,400 points and Ruthie Grant-Williams came in seventh with 4,278 points.

As for the track events, the Aztecs had five athletes competing in the 200m dash, and two finished on the podium. Jalyn Harris and Jada Moore continued their strong start to the season with a second and third place finish, respectively. Harris finished in 23.91 and Moore finished in 23.95. 

In the 100m hurdle prelims, Danae Dyer qualified for the finals which will be held tomorrow by placing eighth overall and third in her heat with a time of 13.61.

As for the field events for the day, the Aztecs and athletes competing in the pole vault and high jump. In the pole vault the Aztecs placed four athletes in the top 10 overall, continuing their strong start to the season as a squad.  Ashley Callahan won the event, posting a 13-09.25 clearance, which ties the freshman record in the event, which was set by Bonnie Draxler in 2015. Kaitlin Heri came in a tie for second place, clearing 13-05.25, while Corey Friedenbach finished in sixth, with a 13-01.50 clearance, and Elizabeth Funk cleared 12-07.50 to place ninth.

Jade Cany took part in the high jump competition and placed fourth with a season's best 5-05.25. 
 
Over at the Triton Invitational, the Aztecs had athletes competing in the hammer throw and the discus on Friday. Zoe Brosch and Felicia Crenshaw took part in the hammer throw. Brosch set a new PR in the hammer throw, with a throw of 154-11, to place 13th, while Crenshaw came in 14th with a throw of 154-06. As for the discus, Crenshaw represented the Aztecs and finished fifth, throwing 149-11 (45.71m).
