SAN DIEGO -- One former Aztec won a golf tournament while another appeared in a pair of NBA games.

On the PGA Tour, J.J. Spaun (2009-12) won the Valero Texas Open at 13-under-par. It was Spaun's first career tournament victory, vaulting him from 66th in the FedEx Cup standings to 10th. Spaun and Xander Schauffele (2013-15) will compete in The Masters in Augusta, Georgia, this weekend.

In the NBA, forward Jalen McDaniels (2018-19) played in two games for Charlotte. This week, he averaged 5.0 points, 0.5 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 0.5 steals per game. So far this season, McDaniels averaging 5.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.0 assist, 0.4 steals and 0.4 blocks per game. Toronto guard Malachi Flynn (2020) returned from his hamstring injury, but still did not appear in any games on the week. On the season, he is averaging 4.3 points, 1.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.1 blocks. Guard Jordan Schakel (2017-20) is on a two-way contract with Washington, but did not appear in any games for the Wizards. Forward Kawhi Leonard (2010-11) is on the Los Angeles Clippers, but is sitting out while recovering from a torn ACL suffered during last season's playoffs.
