SAN DIEGO -- San Diego State is 24th in the latest D1Softball rankings, which were released Monday on D1softball.com. The Aztecs (30-12, 13-2 MW) dropped one spot from last week's No. 23 ranking after playing just one game, a 4-3 win at UC San Diego on Wednesday.
 
SDSU is ahead of No. 25 LSU in the rankings, and just behind No. 20 Notre Dame, No. 21 Oregon State, No. 22 Michigan and No. 23 Stanford. San Diego State has a victory over current No. 9 Washington and a 7-6, eight-inning loss to current No. 8 Northwestern. Oklahoma remains the top-ranked team with a 42-1 record, while Virginia Tech, Florida State, UCLA and Arkansas round out the top 5.
 
The Aztecs and No. 17 UCF are the only Group of 5 teams in the rankings.
 
SDSU has been in the D1Softball rankings each of the last four weeks, debuting at No. 25 on April 4, rising to 24th (April 11) and 23rd (April 18) the next two weeks, and checking in at No. 24 today.
 
San Diego State has won all five of its MW series this season and is in first in the league standings, three games ahead of Boise State, UNLV and Utah State, which are each 10-5 in league play. The Aztecs have already won series against Boise State and UNLV, and host Utah State from May 6-8 at SDSU Softball Stadium.
 
SDSU resumes league play with a series at San Jose State this weekend. San Diego State and the Spartans (20-23, 6-12 MW) will play 6 p.m. PT Friday, 3 p.m. PT Saturday and noon PT Sunday at Spartan Softball Stadium.
