SAN DIEGO -- A pair of former Aztec sluggers are hot at the plate while multiple former Aztecs played in the NBA postseason .

In the MLB, infielder Ty France (2013-15) started at first base in each of Seattle's six games. This week, he batted .304, with a .407 on base percentage, three runs scored, seven RBIs, and a pair of home runs. France hit a solo shot in the first and drove in another run in the fifth on Wednesday night at Chicago (White Sox). He hit a booming two-run double in an 11-1 victory over Houston on Friday night. France closed out the week with a three-run homer in the fourth inning against Houston starter Jose Urquidy in a 7-2 triumph. On the season, he is batting .289 with a .400 on-base percentage, four runs, nine RBIs and two homers. Infielder Alan Trejo (2015-17) started a pair of games at shortstop in Colorado's weekend series against the Chicago Cubs. He is off to a scorching start, batting .375 with a pair of runs scored, five RBIs and a home run. In his season debut on Friday night, Trejo clubbed a three-run shot off Cubs starter Marcus Stroman to give the Rockies a 5-3 lead in the fourth inning in a game they would win 6-5. The next night, Trejo hit an RBI single in both the fourth and fifth inning in another victory over Chicago. Pitcher Stephen Strasburg (2008-09) remains on the 10-Day IL for Washington. Outfielder Greg Allen (2012-14) is spending at least the first two months of the season on the 60-Day IL for Pittsburgh.

In the NBA, forward Jalen McDaniels (2018-19) played in Charlotte's Play-In loss to Atlanta. He contributed seven points, four rebounds and an assist in 25 minutes. Toronto guard Malachi Flynn (2020) appeared in the first two games against Philadelphia. Flynn grabbed a rebound in two minutes in Game No. 1 and another rebound in 21 minutes in Game No. 2. Game three is on Wednesday night in Toronto. Forward Kawhi Leonard (2010-11) did not play in the Los Angeles Clippers' Play-In losses to Minnesota or New Orleans.

On the PGA Tour, Scott Piercy (1999-2001) tied for 12th in the RBC Heritage at 9-under-par, while J.J. Spaun (2009-12) missed the cut. Xander Schauffele (2013-15) is ranked 12th in the world and Spaun is ranked 15th in the FedEx Cup. Schauffele is playing with Patrick Cantlay at this week's Zurich Classic in New Orleans, while Piercy is teaming with Sean O'Hair.
