COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- San Diego State's Justin Hastings (Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands) has been named the Mountain West Men's Golf Freshman of the Week, the league announced Thursday. It is the second career MW accolade for Hastings after also winning the award three weeks ago (March 24).

Hastings led the Aztecs to a fourth-place finish at the 75th annual Western Intercollegiate earlier this week. SDSU (+42) was only beaten by No. 9 Texas (+25), No. 8 Pepperdine (+26) and No. 41 Washington (+41) in a 14-team field which also included No. 38 Oregon (+51), No. 30 Arizona (+67) and No. 12 Stanford (+85), and fellow MW schools Colorado State (+67) and tournament host San Jose State (+69).

Hastings tied for fifth out of 92 golfers at 3-over 213 and was the top freshman finisher in the field. Hastings had rounds of 72, 71 and 70 on the par-70, 6,615-yard Pasatiempo Golf Club when the average scores were 77.39, 76.18 and 72.24, respectively. Hastings recorded 37 pars in the tournament, which were tied for the third most in the field.

SDSU next competes in the Mountain West Championship, set for April 29-May 1 at Gold Mountain Golf Course in Bremerton, Washington.
