COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Ashley Callahan has been named Mountain West Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Callahan, an Escondido, California native and graduate of Rancho Bernardo High School, won Freshman of the Week for her performance in the pole vault competition on Friday night at the Sun Angel Classic. She cleared 13-09.25, which is tied for the seventh highest height cleared all-time in San Diego State history and is tied for the highest height cleared amongst freshmen in SDSU history. Her clearance of 13-09.25 on Friday night is the 15th best nationally, the third best in the west region, and the second highest height cleared in the conference.
This is the first time Callahan has won Freshman of the Week outdoors. She also earned Freshman of the Week during the indoor season (2/15/2022).
The Aztecs are in action this weekend at three meets. They head to the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California on April 13-15, the prestigious Mt. Sac Relays in Walnut, California on April 14-16, and the Beach Invitational in Long Beach on April 15-16.
