SAN DIEGO -- One former Aztec started a trio of NBA games while a pair of golfers participated in a tournament.

In the NBA, guard Malachi Flynn (2020) started three games for Toronto. Last week, he averaged 15.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.3 blocks. Flynn finished in double figures in all three games and totaled eight assists twice. On Friday night, Flynn put up a season-high 20 points, but strained his hamstring and missed Sunday's game. On the season, he is averaging 4.3 points, 1.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.1 blocks. Charlotte forward Jalen McDaniels (2018-19) is nearing a return from his ankle injury. So far this season, he is averaging 6.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game. Forward Kawhi Leonard (2010-11) is on the Los Angeles Clippers, but is sitting out while recovering from a torn ACL suffered during last season's playoffs. 

On the PGA Tour, J.J. Spaun (2009-12) tied for 52nd at 8-over-par in the Arnold Palmer Invitational, while Scott Piercy (1999-2001) did not make the cut. Xander Schauffele (2013-15) is ranked seventh in the world. Schauffele and Spaun will compete in THE PLAYERS Championship, in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, this weekend.
