SDSU Softball Looks to Stay Unbeaten in MW as it Hosts Nevada This Weekend
Riding the momentum of an eight-game winning streak and a 6-0 Mountain West start for the first time since 2015, San Diego State plays host to a weekend series against Nevada at SDSU Softball Stadium. The Aztecs (22-10, 6-0 MW) and Wolf Pack (9-23, 1-5 MW) will play at 6 p.m. PT Friday, 4 p.m. PT Saturday and noon PT Sunday.

All three games will be broadcast on Mountain West Network (links will be available on GoAztecs.com).

SDSU is coming off a series sweep at defending MW champion Fresno State last weekend. Through six league games, San Diego State is outscoring the opposition, 35-9.

SDSU's eight-game winning streak is its longest since tying a school record with 13 consecutive wins during the 2013 campaign. San Diego State is outscoring its opponents, 47-14, over the winning streak.

Mac Barbara leads the Aztecs in most offensive categories, including batting average (.408), hits (40), doubles (8), home runs (13, T-4th in NCAA), RBIs (42, T-4th in NCAA), total bases (89, T-5th in NCAA), walks (19), slugging percentage (.908, 14th in NCAA) and on-base percentage (.500). 

Bella Espinoza (.388, 26 R, 10 SB), Makena Brocki (.361, 13 RBI, 11 R) and Jillian Celis (.352, 18 RBI, 23 R, 7 2B, 4 3B) are also hitting over .350 for SDSU.

Maggie Balint (10-4, 1.44 ERA, 3 SV, .172 opp. avg.) ranks in a tie for seventh in the country in saves (3), ninth in strikeouts (152), 13th in strikeouts per seven innings (10.93), 18th in strikeout-to-walk ratio (8.44), and 33rd in ERA (1.44) and hits allowed per seven innings (4.32).

Dee Dee Hernandez (5-3, 1.76 ERA, 3 SV, 44 K, 7 BB) is coming off being named the MW Freshman of the Week for the second time this season, while Allie Light (3-1, 3.39 ERA) and Dani Martinez (4-2, 3.95 ERA) have also logged innings in the circle for San Diego State.
