SAN DIEGO -- One former Aztec appeared in a quartet of NBA games while a golfer made it to the second round of a tournament.
In the NBA, forward Jalen McDaniels (2018-19) played in four games for Charlotte. This week, he averaged 3.3 points, 2.5 rebounds and 0.8 assists. So far this season, he is averaging 5.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.0 assist, 0.4 steals and 0.4 blocks per game. Toronto guard Malachi Flynn (2020) remains out with a hamstring injury. On the season, he is averaging 4.3 points, 1.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.1 blocks. Guard Jordan Schakel (2017-20) is on a two-way contract with Washington, but did not appear in any games for the Wizards. Forward Kawhi Leonard (2010-11) is on the Los Angeles Clippers, but is sitting out while recovering from a torn ACL suffered during last season's playoffs.
On the PGA Tour, Xander Schauffele (2013-15) went 1-2 in World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play, but did not advance to the round of 16. Schauffele is ranked 10th in the world. J.J. Spaun (2009-12) will compete in the Valero Texas Open in San Antonio, Texas, this weekend.
