SAN DIEGO – The Aztec track and field team continued competition on Friday at the 43rd Annual Aztec Invitational. The Aztecs had two athletes competing in the heptathlon on day two and one athlete competing in the hammer throw.
 
Fresh off of day one of the heptathlon competition, Thaila Wilson and Ruthie Grant-Williams continued competition with three more events.
They started the day off with strong finishes in the long jump. In the long jump Grant-Williams put in a solid showing in the event with a fifth-place jump of 15-11.50.
 
Then in the penultimate event of the heptathlon, the javelin throw, Thaila Wilson finished second in the event with a throw of 130-04.00 (39.74m), which was good enough to earn her second place in the event. Grant-Williams also had a strong showing in the event, finishing seventh with a throw of 96-07.00 (29.44m).
 
In the final event of the heptathlon, the 800m run, Grant-Williams earned herself a fourth-place finish in both the event and the overall competition with a time of 2:38.43.
 
Wrapping up the day of competition was the hammer throw, which was held at UC San Diego. Felicia Crenshaw took part for the Aztecs, throwing 143 feet even to come in 11th place.
 
Up Next: The Aztecs conclude competition at the 43rd Annual Aztec Invitational on Saturday, with day three of competition and the invitational meet. Action will start with field events at 9 a.m. PDT and track events at 12:00 p.m. PDT. There will also be a senior day ceremony for the SDSU graduating athletes at 2:45. Saturday's action will be streamed on RunnerSpace +, which is a subscription-based service. Fans can also attend the meet for $5 on Saturday, students are free.
