SAN DIEGO – The Aztec lacrosse team (3-5) fell 15-14 in overtime to Drexel (5-4) Wednesday evening. SDSU's Deanna Balsama, Camdyn O'Donnell & Julia Lytle all tied for a team-high four goals and O'Donnell also dished out two assists.

It was a back-and-forth game with each team going on runs and it was a one goal game for the final 18 minutes. The Aztecs went up 14-13 on a Balsama free position goal with 3:02 left but then saw Drexel tie it up with seven seconds left in regulation. The Dragons would score the game-winning goal with 11 seconds remaining in the first overtime.

"We played a full 63 minutes," Head coach Kylee White said after the game. "That's all we wanted is for them to come out and fight and compete and battle. I'm going to focus on what we did well and build on that. I think we showed how much fight we have as a team."

The Aztecs took a 4-1 lead eight minutes into the game and then Drexel responded with five straight goals. SDSU then went on a 4-0 run to go up 8-6 with 1:57 left in the second quarter.

The Dragons scored one more in the first half and then the first three in the third quarter, which was followed by three straight from SDSU to set up an intense fourth quarter that featured four ties and three lead changes.

The Aztecs had 28 fouls to Drexel's 12, which led to five power play goals for the Dragons.

Drexel outshot SDSU 47-29 but just 31-25 in shots on goal. The Dragons had 17 turnovers and 11 of them were caused by the Aztecs.
