SAN DIEGO -- One former Aztec appeared in a trio of NBA games while three golfers played in a tournament.

In the NBA, forward Jalen McDaniels (2018-19) played in three wins for Charlotte. Last week, he averaged 2.0 points, 0.7 rebounds, 0.3 assists and 0.7 blocks. So far this season, he is averaging 6.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.0 assist, 0.5 steals and 0.4 blocks per game. Toronto guard Malachi Flynn (2020) missed the week with a hamstring injury. On the season, he is averaging 4.3 points, 1.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.5 steals,and 0.1 blocks. Guard Jordan Schakel (2017-20) was signed to a two-way contract by Washington, but did not appear in any games for the Wizards. Forward Kawhi Leonard (2010-11) is on the Los Angeles Clippers, but is sitting out while recovering from a torn ACL suffered during last season's playoffs. 

On the PGA Tour, Xander Schauffele (2013-15) tied for 12th at 11-under-par in the Valspar Championship, while J.J. Spaun (2009-12) tied for 27th at 7-under-par. Scott Piercy (1999-2001) did not make the cut. Schauffele is ranked ninth in the world and will compete in the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play, in Austin, Texas, this weekend.
