SAN DIEGO – After having its midweek game canceled due to COVID related issues within the No. 22 Harvard program, the No. 20 San Diego State water polo team travels up the I-5 to Los Angeles to take on No. 17 Loyola Marymount and No. 6 UC Irvine on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

Versus No. 17 Loyola Marymount (9-7, 0-0 Golden Coast Conference)
• This will be the 40th meeting between these two programs, dating back to the 1998 season and will be each team's conference opener.
• The Lions defeated the Aztecs 12-11 at the 2022 Triton Invitational on Feb. 13 and 11-5 on Feb. 27 in the 2022 Barbara Kalbus Invitational.
• The Aztecs trail in the all-time series 18-21 and in games played in the LMU pool, the teams are tied 4-4, including SDSU's last foray to Los Angeles, a 9-7 victory on March 22, 2019.
• In the last 10 meetings, regardless of location, the Aztecs have six wins.
• In its victories on the road against the Lions, SDSU is averaging 9.3 goals and holding LMU to 6.3.

• In games played in Irvine, the teams have split the 18 meetings, 9-9, but the Anteaters have won seven of the last eight in their pool.
• San Diego State won the first five matchups in the UC Irvine pool and at one point led the all-time series 9-3 as the away team.

About the Aztecs 
• San Diego State is 7-9 overall and No. 20 in the nation after going 3-1 last weekend at the Aztec Invitational.
• Raquel de Pinho leads the team's goalies with 81 saves and 264:16 minutes and has a goals against average of 14.41.
• Karli Canale and Laurene Padilla lead the Aztecs offense with 20 goals each and Rose Kanemy has scored 19 times.
• Three other San Diego State players have reached double-digits in tallies (Sydney Hurst – 14, Spencer Samuel – 12 and Kendall Houck – 11).
• In addition to her lead in goals, Canale paces the Aztecs in assists (16). Kanemy has 15, Padilla 14, and Delaney Binette has 10.
• In her 24th year leading the San Diego State water polo program, head coach Carin Crawford has amassed 469 career victories.
