TUCSON, Ariz. -- The San Diego State men's golf team is in 12th place after the first day of Arizona's National Invitational Tournament Friday at the par-72, 7,200-yard Omni Tucson National in Tucson, Arizona.
 
The Aztecs shot rounds of 2-under-par 286 and 3-over 291, and are in solo 12th at 1-over 577 after 36 holes. SDSU trails USC and Wyoming by four strokes to get into the top 10. No. 2 Oklahoma State is out to a commanding lead at 41-under 535, 21 strokes clear of No. 30 and host Arizona (-20). Top-ranked Oklahoma and No. 28 New Mexico are tied for third in the 15-team event at -18, while No. 9 Pepperdine and No. 12 Texas are tied for fifth at -16.
 
Youssef Guezzale is tied for 23rd out of 88 entrants at 3-under 141 following rounds of 3-under 69 and even-par 72. Guezzale had four birdies in the first round, including three over his final five holes, and one bogey. In his even-par 72 in the second round, Guezzale sank four birdies, which were offset by four bogeys. He recorded birdies in both rounds on the par-5, 535-yard second hole and the par-4, 375-yard third.
 
Puwit Anupansuebsai is tied for 36th at 1-under 143 with rounds of 74 and 69. In the first round, the three-time all-Mountain West selection had three birdies, but also three bogeys and a double bogey on the par-4, 428-yard 16th hole. Anupansuebsai's second-round 69, meanwhile, featured an eagle on the par-5, 511-yard 10th hole, two bogeys, a triple bogey on the par-4, 469-yard 18th and six birdies, including each of his final five holes. Anupansuebsai's streak of five birdies came from holes No. 1-to-No. 5 following his triple bogey on No. 18. He finished with birdies on both rounds on No. 2 and the par-4, 398-yard fifth.
 
SDSU's other three golfers - Steve Sugimoto (T-66th, +3), Jack Townsend (T-71st, +4) and Jackson Moss (T-80th, +7) - are all over-par.
 
Sugimoto had rounds of 71 and 76, recording five birdies in the first round with one bogey, and one birdie in the second (par-4, 425-yard sixth) against five bogeys.
 
Townsend, who last Thursday was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week, had rounds of 72 and 76 today. His first round came with a bogey on his second hole (par-4, 436-yard ninth) and a birdie on the par-4, 402-yard first, surrounded by 16 pars. In the second round, Townsend birdied the par-3, 170-yard fourth, but couldn't overcome a rough start of 5-over through this first nine holes.
 
Moss opened with a 77 and followed with a 74. Moss had two birdies in his first round - No. 4 and No. 6 - but also had three bogeys and a pair of double bogeys. He birdied No. 4 once again in the second round and the par-4, 404-yard 14th, which were offset by four bogeys.
 
Oklahoma State's Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra leads the 88-man field at 12-under 132 following rounds of 65 and 67. Three others are one shot back at -11 in Adrien Dumont de Chassart of Illinois, Aman Gupta of Oklahoma State and Sam Choi of New Mexico.
 
San Diego State will tee off from the 10th hole in Saturday's final round at 7:48 a.m. PT and will be paired with Wyoming and USC.
